On July 9th, we had another opportunity to dance at a wedding reception. We were warmly received into the most gorgeous of venues with rapturous applause, and the smiling face of Ebisu shone deeply through our enthusiastic performance. Gen, a member of the otoko odori and close friend of the groom, gave a moving congratulatory speech, which further filled the house with both laughter and tears of joy. Making a connection with people through stirring and energetic dance is one of the more rewarding aspects of Awa Odori, and I hope we have many more such opportunities.
