August 27th: Koenji Awa Odori Day 1

Koenji Awa Odori is an event we perform at every year. Due to power shortages, this was the first time it was held during the daytime.

Contrary to our concerns that we'd be sweating more than usual under the blazing hot sun, the first day turned out quite cool and we could enjoy dancing.

It was probably a combination of the Sumidagawa Fireworks being held on the same day, and the unusual daytime performance, but it did feel like there were fewer spectators than normal for a Saturday. That being said, the more relaxed atmosphere was pleasant and enjoyable.

Our team felt very compact compared to many of the other teams which have much greater numbers, so I would like to express my gratitude to all the spectators by the roadsides who cheered us on and fanned us in spite of our modest presence. It's because of your kindness and enthusiasm that we were all able to keep on dancing with smiling faces!

I've heard many of this year's new members commenting on how much they enjoyed the day.

I look forward to your continued support and encouragement at next year's performance!
