September 22nd: Hatsudai Awa Odori

With the heat of summer finally dying down, we were able to perform comfortably at Hatsudai Awa Odori, the annual festival of Hatsudai Yoyogi Hachiman Jinja this weekend.

Unlike the main summer events, Awa Odori at this time of year has a distinctly autumn taste, and a more relaxed feel to it. It's less demanding on the dancers, and is good for expelling any feeling of not quite having danced enough left over from the summer. We really are "odoru aho"!

After our final formation dance had finished, we were even treated to a beer by one of the neighbourhood shops. This was a delightful end to a great festival event. Your kindness is much appreciated!
